Legal Separation in California

A Legal Separation in California is not needed in order to Divorce. This is not the case in other states. The purpose of a Legal Separation is to address all issues, as in a Divorce, but the parties will not be divorced and hence cannot marry.Some people choose a Legal Separation for the following reasons:

1. religious reasons
2. financial reasons

A Legal Separation Attorney can discuss your particular case and suggest your legal options. Issues such as spousal support, child custody, visitation and support as well as division of property and/or debt can be addressed in the Legal Separation.
